Welcome back! Thanks for stopping by. We had a few big events today. One was our fist day of Junior Choir. Another was our science test. We averaged an 81%, which is a C+. The short answer questions gave us a bit of trouble, so we will need to take another look at those tomorrow. We also looked at how, to ; properly punctuate. sentences! We also had our first math test.

Our first map test is this Thursday. I have given the students a study guide map to practice on. On Thursday I will give them another map just like that one except the numbers will be rearranged. The students will then need to write down each state and capitol next to the number that represents that state on the map.

Our first Friday of the year went pretty well although one of our students had to phone a friend and then lost the million dollar question. However, since I don't have a million dollars to give him anyhow, it is just as well. We corrected our study guide and took a look at how our computerized test is going to go on Monday for geography. We also took a some time to compare our science reviews and make sure those are right before Monday comes along. We spent some time working with number lines and types of sentences. We also spent some time with Joseph Haydn. By age three his family knew he was going to be involved in music. Thaddeus Loves to dance, does that count? We listened to part of his Surprise, Toy and Farewell symphonies.

"The ants go marching one by one . . " and so do the days. Today we reviewed in math how to solve equations that have variables in them. We also talked about maps and go to watch a short video about the short comings of the Mercator Projection. (It is cooler than it sounds, really.) We also talked about different economic systems and put Jonah in charge of the toaster factory and Hanna got to make extension cords. We also studied why trade is so important for us in our globalized world.

MISSION OFFERING TOMORROW! Read more about it in the school news letter.

Welcome welcome welcome!

First of all let me say a hearty hi ho to anyone who signed up to get this by email last year and is still getting it now. HI! You can unsubscribe at the bottom of the email. Secondly, for the rest of you, please note at the bottom of the blog where you can sign up to get this blog delivered to you by email each day. It is convenient!

I registered the class for the online math book. Your student got their log on information and password today (not the 6th  graders who come in, they should get it tomorrow). If you go to my.hrw.com your student can see an online version of the book. There are also some tools and certain lessons have interactives as well.

We underwent another schedule change. Bear with me! We just moved break from before geography to after. The time isn't as good, but it keeps us out of other classes way. It also gives us a few more minutes for geography.
