We had a better day today with two very good study periods!
Brian missed the search plane but has now come to terms with being lost in the wilderness.
In science we talked about climate changes that may have taken places in ages past.
In English we talked about demonstrative pronouns and adjectives (that, these, this, those) and interrogative pronouns and adjectives (which, what, when, where, why)

The science tests did not come back well. Considering the students had all the questions ahead of time and we went through them in class together, I don't think a class average of D+ was a good thing. As such, we went back and did some review sheets today and watched a short video. We will review some more tomorrow and then we will move on again.

Rough Draft's are due tomorrow.

Pep Fest Today! Go Panthers!
Students are on their own to read literature this time. Watch out for the bear!
The spelling test was terrible. The class average was a D- due to many students getting around a 50%. The students were told to review before school this morning and many of them wandered around the classroom wasting time instead. This was clearly reflected in the grades. Hopefully the science test went better. We will correct on Monday.
Mr. Woldt is also offering students a chance to redo their Math test, and Mrs. Nuebauer is letting students retake yesterdays map test on Monday. Clearly the work ethic is slipping in many cases.
Many students are not handing in the academic fair work on time. If the specific benchmarks are not reached on time this is a 0%. Please remind your student to reach each goal on time or their grade will go down drastically!

Happy Visitation Day! It was nice to see so many parents and grandparents today. Often it is more difficult as your student gets older to make these events, so I appreciate all who could make it.

We took time to watch the inauguration today. The students jotted down a few notes. Ask your student what struck him or her as important.

Wow! What a long weekend. It seemed like we just got back from Christmas break. We tired to do some catchup today, some special events and even managed a little business as usual. We will correct the Geography Bee tests tomorrow and see how everyone did. I forgot to mention it to the students, but the spelling review unit will be due on Thursday as normal. We finished the Christ Light book so I will be collecting those on Thursday. Remember to wear the Faith shirt tomorrow and black and white on Thursday.

My apologies! It has been a hectic few days and I apologize for not getting this updated sooner! Report cards should go home today so look for those. Science test is today so be sure and ask your student how he or she did on that. If he or she faithfully completed the study test, he or she should do fine.

Geography Bee is going to be on Thursday.
Encourage your student to keep working on the academic fair project. I have been skipping other English assignments to give the students more time to work on their project.
It isn't too early to start on AR! Keep up the good work!

Congratulations to Zach Hawley for taking first place in the spelling bee! Also congrats to Kayla Mueller for second place. A good job was done by all the participants.

Today we went through chapter 14 for science. It talks about the geological ages going back billions of years. We skimed through it and I gave the students a worksheet to review the main vocabulary from the chapter. That is all we will be doing with chapter 14. Tomorrow will move on to chapter 15 and the regular routine. We sing January 25th as a school so we started learning that song today. After some technical issues we had a good practice.

Today we were back at it. The class seemed glad to see each other again as they had much news to share. I hope you all had as blessed a holiday as I did. Thank you for the wonderful gifts! I have used some of the gift cards already to purchase some rechargable batteries (you can immagine how many batteries we go though) and a new digital camera, (the one that had served us for around ten years got sat upon through an odd series of events).

Today we started a Rod Sterling play in literature. We also took a look at some of evolutionists ideas about the earth in Science. We went though all of chapter 13 today and will skim through chapter 14 tomorrow. I just want the students to get a basic grasp on some of these evolutionistic ideas and terms. There will be no test on either chapter.
