Great Friday to you! I got word that Thaddeus had a great check-up today so I am very excited about that. Other things to get excited about were a good showing on our vocab assignment and science test. We also started adding and subtracting negative and positive numbers. A bit new, but not too hard. We also dallied a bit into the Gulf War parts 1 and 2. Exciting times indeed!

It has come around to Wednesday once again. Funny how that seems to happen every week . . . Anyhow, this particular Wednesday was partially spent working with triangles (with a fire drill added in for excitement), checking our study guides for science to make sure we are good to go for tomorrow, and working together to learn more about the countries of our section.

Math 61

We had an artless Tuesday today. We made good use of the time to work on our Prezi's. I'd like to start presenting them next week Thursday, so the time was well spent working on them. It also gave the students a chance to ask some of those technical questions that sometimes come up. (I even learned something new! I love it when that happens.) We also worked on parallelograms as you can see below. The big thing to remember (this will come up with triangles as well) is that the height always has to make a 90-degree angle. Slanty sides are great to use for perimeter, but not area!

Monday, January 25, 2016

Welcome to Monday! We finished talking about how to get along with our families and moved on to getting along with our friends and classmates. We took a math test. I haven't finished correcting the tests, but it seems as if things are getting a little tougher. In geography, we talked about religion in the region which led to a discussion of Islam and the five pillars thereof. That led to some discussion as you might imagine. Speaking of geography, we have started working on our second-semester countries. We will have some time to work on that tomorrow. We also started working on our study guide for science.

We had a lovely Thursday. I hope you did, too. We are singing this weekend. We practiced today and it sounded pretty good! We also had a double whammy, a Meet Math test and a regular math pre-test.

That's all the further I got last night. Sorry about that, life caught up to me!

We had a great visit Faith day today. Thanks for the lava lamps. They helped me illustrate a concept in science, only it was an hour later than I planned. They take much longer to warm up than I anticipated! We also had a very spirited debate on whether artifacts from Egypt should be returned to Egypt or left in the countries they are now. We played some games to review vocabulary words and melted a snowman among other things. We went through the math pretest and then did an investigation to work with quadrilaterals. We kept busy but had some fun as well. I even tried to get Mrs. Albrecht to help out the class with their math homework, but she wouldn't go for it.

I get to legally say happy Wednesday today! So, HAPPY WEDNESDAY! We finished our geography section today on the religions of the area. Waaaaaaay to much to say there. Interesting (and sad) that so many of the issues today are the same ones that have been around for centuries. We also worked on translating English to math. (I think it is a lot like a foreing language.) In science we spread the sea floor in preperation for the big disucssion of plate techtonics.

On a personal note, I have a call to St. Jacobi in Greenfield near Milwaukee. Your prayers are appreciated.
