Well, we got Brian out of the lake, just. We went through over 50 rules for punctuating and capitalizing, (good thing the list is in the book and we already know most of them) toured Canada and the U.S. (Hawaii is more than just the 8 main islands) and corrected our pretest so we can be ready to go for the post test.

Hey, so glad you could make it again! We started our day of with some more health information. Today for math, we took a time out and spent some time reviewing some things that were causing us some trouble. We spent the rest of the time working on corrections. We are having some trouble with some of our computations and direction following, so it was  good chance to go back over and check our work. Corrections on sets 4 and 5 are mandatory regardless of grade. However, the grade can be raised up to a maximum of a B+ if it was lower to begin with. We also took some time to work on our Science test study guide with a partner. We will correct the study guide tomorrow for a grade and take the real version on Friday. We also started comparing the US and Canada. Scissors were involved but everyone survived.

Happy Monday! Or should I say Happy WET Monday! We covered a lot of ground today. We started the day by heading into church for a neat presentation about our spiritual health. (It is Fun and Fitness week after all!) We then finished up lesson 1 of Christ Light where we talked about why we should spread God's Word and how we can do it. We learned that God will help us! In Math we worked on converting numbers to words and back again. We then looked at maps and why they can cause us problems about also help us out. In current events we heard more about ISIS. Scary stuff. For geography we got a crash coarse on economies. We also put a tariff on pens and erasers. Then we worked on getting Brian done on the ground. We finished off the day learning about our teams for Faith and Fun!

There is most likely memory work due for pastor tomorrow.

It sure is humid out! We played it cool in class today. We talked about being careful in our math work. (We made some preventable mistakes the past two days) and we looked at using a number line to help us work with negative numbers. We also discussed our first hymn "With the Lord Begin Your Task" which will be our memory treasure for next Friday. We also learned more about latitude and longitude and Battleship. (Ask your student about that one.) We have also been keeping up with current events and have a sheet to help us review the week. Joseph Haydn also made the topic list today as well as a few other things.

We were back for more today. We started our first section in science. We spent much of our time working on notes. Once we get the hang of what I am looking for, this should speed up. We also looked at different properties of math. Things we have known how to do for years, we just didn't know it had names! We also took our Star Reading test. This will help set our reading levels and goals for AR this quarter.

Welcome one and all! The new school year is almost upon us! I have gotten a lot of reading done this summer and prepared some changes for the new school year. May God continue to bless us as we work under the theme of We Preach Christ Crucified. If you are getting this by email from last year's class, you probably want to unsubscribe. (Usually there is a button on the bottom of the email to do that.) If you are reading this online and are part of the new class, I suggest you go ahead and subscribe for this year. There is a link on the blog page. I am looking for a new year of learning!
