TESTING 1 2 3 TESTING! Yes, we started our testing today. The band news is your children's brains may be a bit fried, the good news is no math homework since we started with the math tests! We will do a few more tomorrow and the bulk of the tests will be on Thursday. Speaking of math, the class averaged 31/34 (B+) yesterday. That's pretty cool. It seemed like we skipped

Happy Monday everyone! Grand Day is Friday! We are preparing something special for the Grandparents. We also worked at exponents and square roots today and heard more about the rivers and landscape of Europe. We also started work on our science pretest but have lots of time for that. We finished The Outsiders as well, There is a movie version of the book that is rated PG. However, it was made before PG13 was a rating. It has quite a few inappropriate words in it. As such, we won't be watching it in class. If you would like to check it out on your own, it does represent the book pretty well, but unfortunately adds the language. Please be advised and make your own choice for your family.
We will start Terra Nova tests tomorrow. Please help your student get to bed early and have a good breakfast! Thanks!

Happy Thursday! Our Internet wasn't playing nicely last night, hence no blog yesterday. Today we walked over and checked out Koine at WLA. It was a nice concert and I was pleased with the class's behavior most all of the time. We also talked about possessive nouns (like class's), spent a bit of time on Europe, and got Stanley some water that he then dumped out.

Another Tuesday has slipped past us. We had Christ Light today and continued to talk about the fact that our futures are in God's hands and Heaven awaits us. We also looked at how to use a protractor to measure and draw angles. We spent some time discussing thesis statements. Many of ours were to vague or lacking focus. The thesis needs to be a concise statement of where we are trying to go in the paper. I have noticed over the years that students who start with a good thesis, tend to end with a better paper. Ask your student about their thesis and discuss (if needed) how to make it more specific and attainable.
